I was at hobby lobby and I was checking out their clearence section. I got really excited when I found this quatrefoil fabric. It was only a yard but I thought it would be enough to make a table runner for our dining room table. Only $5.39 for the yard so I bought it and went home on my merry way to make my table runner.
Although I have a sewing machine, I haven't used it in MONTHS. So I went with an easier way by using a heat and bond hemming tape. THIS THING IS AWESOME! My mom would be so disappointed. lol
See how easy it is?
A close up. The hemming isn't the straightest but it works for me!

lady bug birthday wishes
Happy Monday everyone. I finally went back to work after being off for a whole week!
This Saturday we're going to go Dave's friend's daugther's birthday party. She'll be turning 1. She's super duper cute and has the prettiest eyes! I made her a birthday card with a lady bug on it. The invite had lady bugs on it. So I'm going to assume that it's a lady bug theme.
Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a great week!

Covered cardboard box with fabric.
Happy Saturday afternoon everyone! It's been awhile since we've had a relaxing Saturday where we did nothing and just bum it. I wanted to do a quick post!
I'm all about recycling and reusing everything. I save all spaghetti jars, plastic bags, cardboard boxes -- If I think I can alter it into some sort of craft project, I save it. Dave says I take recycling onto a whole another level.
So with that being said, we buy Naked juice packs from Costco. They come in this card board box.
I found a tutorial on Pinterest (where else right?) from this pretty awesome blog. I used her instructions as a guide but I kinda did it how it was convenience to me. haha. I used modpodge to glue the whole thing together. And voila! You get this pretty polkadot print box.
I know I said this is a quick post but I wanted to share pictures of my cute Cody. He's been spoiled this week. I love this little guy! He's my little shadow and follows me everywhere. This guy will follow me to the end of the earth.
When I'm in my craft room, this is where he's normally sleeping.
Then when he hears the shutter clicks, he wakes up.
my little grumpy puppy
This is him playing in the living room yesterday. Ok after these pictures, I'll try to stop being a crazy dog lady!
We took him to Tony's house last night and Zack was over with his dog, Roxy. Cody and Roxy had a blast playing together. They ran around the backyard non stop. Anyway, thank you so much for stopping by!

Rony's Birthday Card
Though I've known Rony since 7th grade, it wasn't until the recent years that we've became close friends. Around Rony's birthday last month, we were really busy with the house stuff. But I absolutely could not go without making him a card. It's nice and simple. Used a scalloped circle punch, a birthday cake sticker, and heat embossed the "happy birthday"

Tile Coasters
Since we moved in together, Dave and I needed some coasters. He had some that were from different bars(bachelor pad). I had some Audrey Hepburn ones that I had in my old craft room. He totally vetoed those. lol. I use them now in my new craft room. So we were in need of some new coasters! We had seen some similar ones at Crate and Barrel and Dave liked the idea. Of course I knew I could MAKE them instead of buying them.
But they come REALLY dirty. So you have to wash them thoroughly
Wal-Mart or Target sells these cork liners.
I cut them to fit the size of the tiles.
used a corner rounder to round the corners.
Then I put the cork liner on the back of the tile.
we bought a box of these tiles from Lowe's |

Melissa's Bridal Shower Invites
Melissa’s Maid of Honor, Barbara, gave me assignment of the invitations for her bridal shower. Of course, I was thrilled! "Project!" - Clueless. I’ve been wanting to make invitations. I had to really think about how I wanted to make it. The wedding invitations hadn’t been sent out yet so I didn’t want these to over shadow those. I decided to keep it under 4x6 since I assume the wedding ones will be 5x7. I also had to think about all the embellishments I wanted to use on a card. I love pop dots and I knew I would have to limit or completely eliminate them since we were mailing them. Postage gets expensive!
I found the template on Etsy from pickledoodledesigns. It was $14 to get the template designed. It took about a week but she made all the changes I requested. I had requested for a 3x5 size and so she sent me a JPEG/PNG file -- which I was able to fit 4 invites on a 8 1/2x11 PDF file. Then I sent it to FedEx Kinkos via their website to print on 100 lb cardstocks. Then I cut them out with a paper cutter(borrowed it from work. LOVE this thing! I want to buy it... $70. Really thinking about it!) and layered it on purple Bazzill cardstock. Then I wanted to add some sort of embellishments. So I cut a strip of gray Bazzill carstock and wrapped it around her name and topped it with a circle with her initial. I used MCT stitched circle die. I wanted to heat emboss her initial but I couldn't get the embossing powder to work correctly. (BUT I learned from a visit to Paper Source that if you use Colorbox Pigmented inks, you can heat emboss BEAUTIFULLY!) So for these, I just used a white chalk ink. Of course, I had to use my corner chomper to round the edges.
Even though it was a given that Melissa would be there whether she got an invite or not, I still sent her one anyway. The guest of honor! I wanted her to experience what the guests experienced when they opened it! She loved it! Definitely worth all the work!

sprained ankle
Hi everyone!
I've been on bed rest for the last 4 days. I sprained my ankle last Thursday at my softball game. I play catcher and they hardly ever throw the ball home. If they do, our pitcher, Tony, covers me. Anyway long story short, my friend Monica threw the ball home. I jumped up to catch it. At the same time, the runner at 3rd base slided home. When I was coming back down from my jump, I fell on him and sprained my ankle. I caught it but runner was safe! Boo!
I laid on the dirt for a good 5 minutes trying to breathe. I didn't cry! lol I'm a cry baby but I hardly ever cry when there is physical pain involved. Dave and Aeron helped me off the field. Patty got me some ice and then Dave took me to urgent care.
We waited in urgent care for almost 3 1/2 hours. They took some x-rays. Luckily nothing was broken. The ice made it worse. So I just took the ice off and kept my foot elevated. The urgent care doctor gave me a week off work with instructions to see my primary doctor. I saw my primary doctor earlier today and she wanted to extend my week by 4 more days! I was like "uhh a week is enough!"
I was on crutches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I had to walk to class yesterday to take my final. There was no way I was going to make it across campus with my crutches. My whole body ached from using the crutches. I had never been on crutches which made this worse.
On a brighter note, we had our housewarming on Saturday. A ton of people came! I wanted to thank everyone who came to celebrate our new place with us. I was a useless hostess, as I had to sit most of the time. Dave had to do pretty much ALL the prep work. Good thing I ordered food to be catered. I still managed to make some salsa and clean somethings sitting on a stool. Jenn and Wynn came early and helped set up the food and drinks! The whole shindig didn't end until 2 in the morning. By the end of the night, we still had a ton of food and drinks! Melissa and Aeron helped us clean up most of the mess before they left.
Since I've been home, my little Cody has been my shadow and he doesn't leave my side. Look at this spoil brat sleeping in bed with me!
Anyway, since I'll be home for the rest of the week, I'm going to work on a couple more blog posts and a couple of cards. Thank you so much for stopping by!
