I Feel The Love Project #2

Hello everyone! I know it’s been awhile since my last update! I’ve been really busy at work and hadn’t had a chance!

It is long overdue but this is my card for July’s I Feel The Love Project.

The recipient of this month is Marley Moore. Here’s a little story about her.

On Friday, August 7, 2009, Marley was taken to the hospital due to concerns from her family as well as their family physician. A CT scan found a tumor (pilocytic astrocytoma), about the size of a lemon, located on her brain. Marley was immediately rushed to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City where the doctors went to work...they began to drain fluid from her brain to release the pressure that had been causing her immense pain for weeks prior.

The tumor was located around/near the optic nerve, the brain stem, and the pituatary gland. Because it was near several very sensitive areas of the brain, the doctor's scheduled a surgery to remove as much of the tumor as they possibly could. That surgery took place on Monday, August 10, 2009. The surgeon was able to remove a larger portion than he had originally thought, but that evening, as a result of trauma to the brain from surgery, Marley suffered a stroke, leaving her right side paralyzed. You can follow the rest of her story through our journal updates. Click HERE.

I wanted to make a card that a 3 year old would enjoy. I thought this gold fish(kinda like the ones you eat!) would be super cute.

Hermione -- Magical Birthday

Hi everyone!

I can’t believe the Harry Potter movie series have came to an end! It’s probably one of the best series next to Star Wars! I know, NERD right. But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Harry Potter and sometime I wish I was a witch and I could disparate(teleport). Lol.

Anyway, another person who loves Harry Potter as much as I do(or probably more) is Helen. As you all know Helen had her birthday on Friday and the movie premiered on Friday. I knew for awhile what kind of birthday card I wanted to make for her!

Here’s Hermione wishing Helen a magical birthday!! Well, my PDDU version of her!

Cricut: Hermione – Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge
Punch: EK Success Punch Corner Rounder - Large
Stamp: My Creative Time – My Favorite Sayings, Have Fun in the Sun, Wow So Many Candles, Peachy Keen – Wided Eyed Kids
Other: White Gel Pen, Bakers Twine & Button

I combined 3 different stamp sets to get this sentiment. I LOVE MAGIC – well the Harry Potter magic anyway.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Impromtu Vegas Trip

Good morning everybody!

I took an impromptu trip to Las Vegas this weekend! Aeron was going to be there with his friends and Melissa was suppose to meet him there. So Mike and I drove out there with her. Everything worked out perfectly because Helen had an extra complimentary room at Bally’s and she even got us upgraded to a suite! Thanks Helen!

It was a good quick trip! It cured my Vegas itch because I hadn’t gone in two years. Vegas is the backyard to L.A and I used to go like every 3 months!

We went to Marquee Night Club at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. A lot of people were there!

The four of us once again!

Mel and I sitting down whenever we got the chance.

Mike side busting as always!

It was a fun trip overall! I need to clean my room so I can start crafting again. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Mai!

Today is one of my good friends, Mai's Birthday. Although we didn't go to the same high school I've known her since probably sophomore year. She is the girlfriend of our friend Tom. But over the last couple of years she's became one of my closest friends and we probably see her more than Tom!

She is home for the summer! She is going to dental school in Boston right now. This was a picture of us sending her off at LAX last summer.

Happy Birthday Mai!

Simple Wedding Invitation -- Test Version

Good morning everybody!

Melissa has been looking for invitations for her wedding and MY! It is expensive. We’ve been looking at different ideas and we thought we would try to make one and see how it turns out.

So here it is. She had just seen it right now and there are changes to be made but just thought I’d share with you.

It’s very simple. I embossed a black card stock with the 5x7 Swiss Dots Embossing folder.

Then printed the invitation on a white card stock. My printer seems to be acting up so it didn't print as smoothly as I would have liked it to.

Then I printed their names on Vellum

And then put them together with a ribbon.

I'm slowly getting back into the groove of crafting! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Softball Tournament

Good morning everybody! I can’t believe it’s Monday already! My weekend passed by too fast!

The softball tournament on Saturday was awesome! We didn’t win any of our 3 games but it was a lot of fun!

Here are some of the pictures

Nai, Melissa, me and Shanna. Melissa played on a much better team. lol

cheering in the dugout

Nai trying to jump on my back...

then I ended up jumping on her back.

I’m happy to say that I made base hits every time I batted. Did not strike out once! I do need to throw less like a girl though!

just so I can tease Andrew... here he is missing the ball in outfield.

Here's our awesome softball team. I hope we play again in the fall!

Thank you Mike for taking all the pictures and staying with me the whole day throughout the whole tournament. Thank you Rony, Wendy and Sally for coming to support me on such a hot day!!!

me play softball? that's un-possible!

Good morning everybody! I know it’s been sometime since my last craft post! I have been having such a busy week. It was definitely short one because of the holiday. Can you believe it’s already Friday?!

I’ve been preparing for my company’s softball tournament. Every quarter there is a softball tournament for charity. We pay a fee of $395 per team to play in the tournament. I believe half(which I think should be a total 100% but hey umpires and the field that we play at have to get paid) goes to a charity called Junior Achievement. It’s basically for kids. It is co-ed with the rule of at least 3 girls playing at all times. It’s going to be huge! There is a total of 37 teams playing! That’s like nearly 500 employees and that’s without the family and friends coming to watch us.

It is going to be my first time playing it in – or first time EVER playing a real softball game. That was never my sport. Basketball and Volleyball I could do. Practice has been fun. Everyone has been trying to teach me how to throw and bat. I obviously throw like a girl. Apparently, I “push” the ball and don’t put enough power into it to throw far. I originally didn’t even volunteer to play but when my department’s team was short some girls I wanted to be a team player and said yes. Look what I’ve gotten myself into! Melissa took me to the batting cages on Wednesday night and they were teaching me how to bat correctly.

Melissa insisted that I needed to buy cleats because my teammate Andrew(Hi Andrew! He’s a new fan of my blog!) slipped at practice. I know I’m buying cleats just to play a couple of games of softball but hey I have all my snowboarding gears and I only go snowboarding a couple of times a year! Of course, Mike will be there with his big camera to embarrass me and yell at me when I need to run. no me grites!

Tomorrow is the tournament and it’s going to be a HOT HOT HOT day! I’m so paranoid with the sun right now. I mean I’ve lived in California for the past 15 years and I’ve always been fine…but this year the sun has been really beating me up! In my last entry, I blogged about how I was dehydrated and had a migraine. It was a heat exhaustion! THEN at practice on Wednesday(mind you this was at like 6 p.m. and it was still scorching!), I nearly passed out because after I ran the bases, I ran back out to the field without drinking any water. I was so dizzy and couldn’t see anything straight! So I need to a lot of water and I think as long as there’s sun… I’m not going to drink anything that will dehydrate me… i.e beer.

It will definitely be an interesting day tomorrow! oh yeah I’ll be the catcher!

sewed curtains & tote bag

Hello everyone! It's a beautiful weekend here! It's HOT HOT HOT! I think it was so hot that I was dehydrated yesterday and suffered a super duper bad migraine! Nai, Melissa and Aeron walked around DTLA for about 4 hours! We went to the fabric district, flower district, and the famous Santee Alley.

Aeron and Melissa got quotes for flowers, table clothes, and etc for their weddings. If you live in the area and getting married... I highly suggest you don't rent your linens! It is soooo much cheaper to actually buy the table clothes then to rent them! We found table clothes -- 120 inch in diameter for only $10 --- opposed to renting them for like $30 each! Then this guy wanted to charge $50-$60 for each pomander ball that were made out of roses! I could make it for like $10-$15 each! The wedding industry is ridiculous!

So I'm sorry that I've been M.I.A. I feel like I've abandoned my cricut! The last couple of days I've been playing with my sewing machine so much!

Here's a curtain that I made for my room. The fabric is kind of lacy-ish so it has holes -- it lets a TON of light into my room but yet still gives me privacy. I like the light coming in because I don't sleep in as late since the sun coming early in the morning. I like sleeping in but I feel like I waste my day when I sleep in too late!

Another thing I sewed was this TOTE BAG!!! I was so proud and excited. It took me 2 days! This bag is reversible and it even has little pleats. I made this for Melissa and she loved it! She said I needed to sell my bags!

I'm off to make some waffles for Mike and I! Thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Use plenty of sun block and drink lots of water!
