A birthday card for a sweet lady

Happy happy news! I got a promotion at work! It’s just a corporate title but I am really happy. I worked really hard the past year to earn it and I’m so glad that all my hard work paid off! Dave and a lot of our co-workers/softball buddies went out with me to celebrate on Friday! Really good times and I'm fortune to have such great people celebrate with me. On Saturday, I had lunch with the bestie Wendy to celebrate! The rest of my girlfriends will be celebrating me soon too! I can't wait.

Anyway, I have another card to share with you today. I made this card for Dave’s mom for her birthday. I got this idea from Laurie @ Just Give Me Stamps. What got my attention was the beautiful colors she used. I wanted to scraplift but I didn’t want to duplicate her exact card. Here is my take on it. I used some MCT dies and stamps along with Papertrey Ink Stamp and some stickers I already had on hand.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a great week!

Melissa's Bridal Shower Card -- Mr. & Mrs. Towels

To end the week with my SIXTH posts in a row (patting myself on the back!), this is a Bridal Shower card that I made for Melissa. It is definitely scraplifted and inspired by this Pinterest pin.

Those are little Mr. & Mrs. towels! Hehe I thought it was SOOOO SOOO cute when I saw the card. I had to definitely recreate it. I used the Textile Texture folder to emboss the towels. The “Mr. & Mrs” is from Hampton Art Doodlebug You Said It Clear Stamp Set. The “Congratulations” is from Pink by Design Scripted Year. Then used a silver ribbon and silver brad to make a towel rod. Very simple and very chic!

lady bug on banner flags card

I was in the mood for another lady bug card making when I made this card. I got the lady bug stickers from a 99 Cent only store! SCORE! I used MCT Build a Banner Dies, bakers twine, and a square button as well. The sentiment -- I can't remember what stamp set that came from. I know it was like a well known company.... maybe the Paper Company?

This was just in my card stash and Dave's assistant's birthday was last week. So Dave gave it to her with some yummy Dots Cupcakes and she loved it!

L.A Clippers Card

Living in the Los Angeles County area, L.A’s basketball team has always been the Lakers. But since Chris Paul joined the Clippers last season, Clippers have improved A LOT and even made it to play offs. Well, my friend Sharif, is a big Clippers fan – even holds season seats. So his birthday was in mid June and I wanted to make him a card for him.

It’s a nice simple cut of the Clippers logo(I believe I reversed the colors. lol). I inked the edges of the base of the card with Tim Holtz distressed ink. It’s not perfect but he loved it!

Head Over Heels Card

I saw this super duper cute stamp at Hobby Lobby on clearance. I’m not the biggest fan of rubber stamps. 1 -They’re bulky for storage. 2 - I can’t tell EXACTLY where I’m stamping at. But I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. So I HAD to buy it! Of course, it was to make a card for my tall, dark, and handsome!

I am definitely head over heels for this GREAT man! He takes care of me like no other! Since I don't live at home with my parents anymore and we live kind of far from my friends, he has definitely been my family and best friend. He makes me laugh and ANYTHING we do, we have a great time together!

For the card, I stamped the image on a white cardstock and colored it using the Memento markers. I’m stamping images more often now and have been eyeing Copics! However, I have made the decision that Copics are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE and that it is not necessary. I did also read about some alternatives, Spectrum Noirs. But those are still unnecessary since I won’t use them THAT often. I am going to buy some simple American Craft/Recollection stamping markers. They cost about $12-$15 for a pack of 5 or 6 -- that I can use a 40% off coupon on at Michaels. YEP frugal crafter -- err sort of.

Housewarming Card

A couple of weeks ago, on 4th of July, we went a Housewarming. It was for Dave’s friends, Heather and Joe. They’re actually the friends that we got Cody from. They have a beautiful home with a huge yard and a swimming pool.

I wanted to make a quick card for them to go with the gift card we got for them. I combined two MCT stamps – Small Talk Stamp Set & Home Sewn Stamp Set. It was very simple. I just used silver heat embossing powder to emboss everything. It was a VERY thin one layered card.

Since Cody’s biological parents, Jack and Jill and his little brother Junior, live with Heather and Joe, we took Cody with us to the housewarming. Let me tell you that Cody is a ginormous Yorkie. Compared to Jack, Jill, and Junior – he was HUGE (Now that I think about, I wish I had taken pictures of the 4 of them together!). Junior and Cody came from the same liter and Junior only weigh like 7 lbs. While Cody, the ginormous Yorkie, weighs 12 lbs! Also what made Cody different was that, we don’t have his ears pin up. He’s a floppy eared Yorkie. I wanted them to go wherever they wanted according to what he was feeling.

Everyone just asking us why our dog was so big and what we were feeding him. We feed him Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier Puppy 29. Maybe that’s what made him so big? Anyhow, since it was hot, we put Cody in the pool. He was NOT having it. Lol Of course, naturally he swam and did his little doggie paddle. But he couldn’t wait to get out!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I will TRY and update on a regular schedule!

Helen's Birthday Weekend in Vegas

I thought I’d do a picture post today. Two weekends ago, we went to Vegas for Helen’s 26th birthday. Vegas was actually quite cool – for Vegas anyway. The temperature wasn’t in the 100s. It was between high 80s and low 90s and we even had some thunderstorms on our way there. We lounged by the pool, had dinner, and then went to a night club. I was in my flats/flip flops all weekend.

I’m STILL recovering from my sprained ankle. Dave is finally making me do some physical therapy. I started to exercise my ankle so it can finally start healing.

I had a ton of fun on the trip. As we’re getting older, we’re starting to travel with our significant others and not just by ourselves. It was great to see all the boyfriends/husband get along with each other. Dave is the life of the party so of course everyone else loved him too!

Nai's last days

I’m long overdue for a blog post. I’ve just been really busy and I haven’t had time to write a post. I have been making cards and other things though.

I actually made this about 2 months ago. My friend, Nai, had been looking for a job in Northern California. That’s where she is originally from. She wanted to be closer to her family. Well, she accepted a new position near the Bay Area and moved up there early June. Her birthday is on June 27th and we wanted to get her a present before she left.

Nai loves to travel. She goes on several vacations every year. But the funny thing is, she didn’t own a camera. She had one and it broke. I guess she never replaced it. I thought it would be a wonderful idea to get her a camera so she can keep memories of her awesome adventures.

Here is the birthday card I made. Of course it’s Hello Kitty. My Hello Kitty cartridge gets used twice a year. A birthday card for Nai and another birthday card for Mai in September.

This is our break room at work. This is where we catch up on our chismes (Spanish slang for gossip)

This was my last day seeing Nai -- the day before I left to Costa Rica. Her last day at work happened while I was on vacation. But don't worry! I'll see her again in August for Melissa's Bachelorette Party!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
